4food Looks to Pioneer a New Social Media Trend for the Social and Health Savvy Crowd

4food4food is a brand new establishment that is looking to win big with a social media trend that combines smart food with the smart web. After opening earlier this month the company has received press from The New York Times and CNN. More importantly, business appears to be booming and customers are catching on. It's a fast food joint in the very common aspect that it serves burgers conveniently and quickly, however nothing else about the New York City outlet resembles a typical dining experience.

Before setting foot into the location, customers are recommended to go online to 4food.com and create a custom profile. The profile chronicles a users height, weight, eating habits, and dietary goals. After the profile is created 4food will custom design a burger to meet your needs. My recommend burger contained salmon, egg, and avocado on a multi-grain bun. I can choose to keep that burger or design a custom one. There are millions of combination's and a multitude of cheeses, condiments, and extras to choose from. Burgers are also uniquely designed. They're circular shaped and have a hole in the center. The center is filled with something called a "scoop". A scoop can be anything from eggs, mac and cheese, chilli, spinach, mushrooms, or even a sushi roll.

4food is following every tech and social media trend imaginable and the first visit can be surreal. iPads are set up on tables for customers to place orders. There are a multitude of electrical outlets to plug in devices and internet access is free to all customers. A large (about 20ft large) electronic display projects Foursquare logins, a twitter stream, and other media. Walking into 4food is almost like walking into the future.

The mission of 4food is to "de-junk" fast food. The burgers they serve are fresh, contain organic ingredients, and are healthy. French fries are replaced with boiled potato squares. Name brand soft drinks are nowhere to be found on the menu and are ditched in favor of smoothies, teas, and fruit filled soda options. The company has no shame in the food they serve and have made it standard practice that every receipt contains the nutritional info of every item ordered. The calories, carbs, fat, and protein and equivalent daily percentage values are presented to every customer.

Right now 4food has a singular location, but they plan on expanding in the near future. The success of the company will hinge on its customers  following social media trends and wanting to eat healthy food. If 4food can capitalize on both the health and tech crowds, it's only a matter of time till it becomes a household name in New York and eventually around the country.

4food is located on the corner of E 40th St and Madison.
