AT&T Launches Remote Home Automation System
AT&T is trying out its Digital Life system to help customers secure and manage their homes from virtually anywhere. The system is a unique, all-digital, wireless-based home security and automation service,. Customers can control their homes from a smartphone, tablet or PC, regardless of wireless carrier or broadband provider.
This remote control of the house can boost a household's sustainability. Imagine being able to turn down the thermostat at home from the office or switch off any other appliances when they are not in use. This can lead to energy savings and a reduction in emissions.
Besides sustainability, security is improved. Users can lock doors left unlocked or keep an eye on their pets or perhaps a relative who needs care.
Another advantage of the system is that it is wireless, which makes it fairly simple to install, thanks to an absence of wiring.
"The home security and automation market is about to expand significantly," said Roger Entner, Founder and Lead Analyst of Recon Analytics. "Not only can consumers protect their home against intruders, but with these new solutions they can save energy, keep an eye on what is going on in their home even when they are away and protect against costly accidents in their home."
The system includes dedicated monitoring centers with staff working around the clock. They can respond to emergencies and alert police and fire authorities, along with customers, with precise details on where the event inside the home occurred.
Customers can easily customize a security and automation package based on their individual needs, and will be able to manage and control their services by setting up programs and alerts.
AT&T gives customers the opportunity to try out the service beforehand from an AT&T company-owned retail store or via the website. They can also schedule an appointment with an in-home sales consultant.
