Clorox 2012 Annual Report Combines Financial and CSR Performance
The Clorox Company has released its annual report, with a "first": the full annual report is published only online. Also distinctive is that the report is, for the second year, an integrated one, combining the company's financial, social, environmental and governance performance. (A print version contains an executive summary, which includes key financial and corporate responsibility metrics as well as a letter from the CEO.)
The online report makes use of a responsive design to enable convenient viewing on multiple platforms such as desktops, smartphones and tablets. The website also provides a resource center which enables a user to download and print a customized report, including a PDF file of the executive summary.
The Chairman and CEO of Clorox, Don Knauss, said: "As we approach our centennial anniversary on May 3, 2013, this year's report, 'Enduring Value,' recognizes where we've been and where we're headed as we continue to drive sustainable growth and create value for stockholders. For the second year, we are combining our financial, environmental, social and governance performance."
The company's decision to move the detailed report online and print only a shorter executive summary is in line with the company's aim to become more sustainable, while offering stakeholders convenient access to the company's commitment and performance in its five key areas of business. These areas include Performance, Products, People, Planet and Purpose.
In terms of 'Performance', the company aims to achieve financial success with strong governance and transparency. In terms of 'Products' the company's goal is to make responsible products, and use responsible methods of manufacturing those products. In terms of 'People', the company continually aspires to promote diversity, opportunity and respectful treatment for all. Towards its commitment to the 'Planet', Clorox looks at ways to reduce its environmental footprint, while maintaining its business growth. In terms of 'Purpose', Clorox wants to safeguard families with its Be Healthy, Be Smart and Be Safe initiatives.
