I'm passionate about a green, just socio-economy for everyone as our current system falls apart. I'm currently living in East Bay, California. Food Box Wonders
This is one of those long weeks - up early, sleep late, supposedly working on exciting stuff that can make a difference - like global financial architecture for Climate Change Mitigation Processes - but what feels, at times, like enough details to make a lawyer cross-eyed.
So when I emerged from my office to look outside, I was delighted to find my weekly vegetable and fruit box - filled with delicious, organic, local produce - including half of a perfectly ripe Melon, the juice glistening off the green 'meat' of the fruit.
I love my local fruit and vegetable boxes - I especially love that they come to my door, and I never know what is going to be in them. I'd rather shop at an organic farmers market, but this is cheaper, and saves me a lot of time. And it is wonderful connecting with one local farm, and getting to know them and their produce. It also saves me from my addiction to plastic bags- or any plastic at all for that matter. I still buy my avocados from Waitrose, but most of my food comes to me. And I love the novelty - this week, besides the Melon, I get beautiful greens that i've never seen before.
If you haven't gotten into the veggie and fruit boxes yet, I recommend them! - they are great for the ethical consumer in all of us!
