How To Update Your Wardrobe on Very Little Money
A year ago, a few of my friends got together with a bunch of clothes we didn't want and we held a clothing swap. I made out like a bandit, and ended up with several pairs of pants, some nice shirts, a couple dresses, and two pairs of shoes. My friends did pretty well also. In the end, we had all updated our wardrobes without spending a dime.
A clothing swap amongst friends (or siblings) is one of the easiest ways to update your wardrobe, but there are other options if your friends and siblings aren't your size.
Thrift stores also offer a chance to update your wardrobe without too much expense. You do have to be patient and willing to sort the wheat from the chaff, but ultimately you will be rewarded by a nice price! My recent thrift store gem: a really sweet winter jacket that I picked up for 5 pounds!
Another way to update your wardrobe, especially if you're looking for a more high end designer item, is via eBay. EBay is a good way to get designer jeans for cheap ... most of them are very lightly used, and they are often half the price you would pay in the store. Here's how you do it: Go to Nordstroms. Try all of their jeans. Figure out which ones work for you, and take detailed notes. Then, get on eBay, and search for jeans that match your specifications. Be patient. You might not find your dream jeans immediately, but chances are, if you are willing to wait a few weeks, you will!
Used clothes: good for the environment and good for your pocket book. What's not to love?
