Introducing Nathaniel Payne: A Global Finance, Investment, and Emerging Markets Expert

Nathaniel Payne Profile PictureAs a global finance, investment & emerging markets researcher, education manager, and author with a passion for writing, teaching, and research, I am tremendously honored to have the opportunity to write for Justmeans.com. In addition to my fiction & non-fiction portfolio, I actively research, teach, and write about emerging markets, strategy, banking, capital investment, venture capital, financial risk, trade, investments, social responsible investing, market capitalization, micro-finance, real-estate, cap & trade, the publishing industry, non-profit business, ethics, and sustainability.

Currently, in addition to my role as financial & investment author for Justmeans.com, I work as the manager of graduate programs for the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University. I actively research with professors in the Faculties of Business and Education at SFU, and over the last 5 years have been a top ranked guest lecturer & teaching assistant at Simon Fraser University in the areas of organizational strategy, finance, marketing & consumer behavior. I have taught and mentored over 1,400 students, and have helped over 200 students secure co-op, exchange, and permanent employment. This work complements the additional research assistant and technical analyst positions I have held in various departments at Simon Fraser University over the last 7 years, as well as minor roles I have had working with private businesses in the venture capital and biotechnology industry.

In addition to this work, I also work part time as a project manager, consultant, and writer for Altitude Consulting. In this role, I analyze the business processes, revenues, expenses, operations, and traffic patterns for airports and transportation businesses around the world. In 2009, as project manager, I led an international team that wrote the $8.33 million Campbell River Airport runway expansion proposal. The British Columbia provincial and Canadian federal governments approved full funding of this project on September 25, 2009. Construction is ongoing. Additionally, I was previously the assistant merchandising manager for Future Shop's $400 million laptop department, and have been employed as a co-op analyst at CIBC World Markets & PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Fundamentally, as a writer, business researcher, and analyst I felt compelled to become involved with Justmeans.com. I have a tremendous passion for finance and investments. Thus, having the opportunity to discuss global finance and investment issues in emerging markets, while exploring business issues relating to sustainability and long term growth, was highly attractive. Furthermore, I understand the complexities of doing business globally, having worked with companies operating in Europe, Asia, North, and South America, and strive to share this knowledge with the world. As a writer, researcher, and teacher, I aim to use the power of words, media, and networking to inspire change, challenge norms and provocatively explore new ideas that enable societies and businesses around the world to more effectively solve the problems that they face. My ultimate goal is to one day become a global philanthropist and leader, changing the world by facilitating investment in education, health, sustainable development, the environment, as well as the arts through creative partnership. Finally, through my fiction & non-fiction writing, I hope to become one of the most prolific literary contributors, authors, and storytellers of this century, and see my involvement with Justmeans.com as pivot in terms of my own personal and professional development.

Nathaniel Payne is a staff writer for Justmeans.com & CSR Digest, as well as the Manager of Graduate Programs for the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University.
