It's Time to Embrace Video Sharing Technology
Did you know that there are a multitude of sites not called YouTube that you can use to share and watch video? I'm sure you're aware, but are you using any of these sites? That's the big question. Some of them are quite good. Yes YouTube offers amazing analytics (data and visitor info and so forth), it's owned by Google, it's widely popular, and it has a never ending supply of cat themed music videos. Yes we know YouTube is great, however there are some other worthy contenders.
Blip.TV
I like Blip.TV a lot. It's a useful way to grab some ad revenue for your vidoes. Blip.TV has a 50/50 revenue split amongst publishers and advertisers. Recall that hilarious video you made? Now you can earn some income from it! Pending it has some viral traction and people will actually watch it. If you can get the views, Blip.TV can be a valuable resource
Spidvid
Although it's only in beta, I'm really loving Spidvid. It's a place to collaborate with other smart + awesome + creative types. Looking for an actor? Done. Looking for a writer? Done. Looking for a great editor? Check out Spidvid. It's a nice community of video people working on video projects. Great for creating you're next web TV sensation.
TubeMogul
TubeMogul can be your secret weapon for video promotion. It's a distribution service that takes a lot of the headache out of having to upload videos all over the web. Jump onto TubeMogul, create an account, and start instantly pushing videos out to YouTube, Vimeo, Viddler, Myspace, Yahoo! Video, Metacafe, and others. It will also give you analytics for all of your videos and show you which channels have the most traction. If you're even semi serious about video technology, TubeMogul could be a lifesaver for you. Look into it. You'll be thankful you did.
Wistia
Wistia is great for businesses in particular. It's a service that provides hosting, sharing, and tracking of videos. It's a paid service that starts at an intro price of $39 a month, but the cost is well worth it. Wistia provides serious analytics that stand above what other free services can offer. Wistia also offers email alerts and marketing. It's a serious tool for serious video promotion. The technology they've developed is simply amazing.
Dailymotion
Dailymotion is kind of like an online TV network of sorts. It's easy to upload video within the viewing community and equally as easy to take part in viewing videos based on channels. The organization of the videos on the site is top notch. As as added bonus, Dailymotion is home to some highly entertaining web based series. It's a one stop place for online video entertainment at its finest.
Without doubt, video sharing technology has come a long way in a short amount of time.
