More Ethical Chocolate
As mentioned previously, the ethical consumer is going through a grueling schedule of exams right now. As such, she has turned to her love: chocolate, for aid and sympathy. But because she is the ETHICAL consumer, she has decided to try a number of fairtrade or equitrade chocolate bars and let you know what she thinks.
This week I tried the Sambirano equitrade chocolate bar.

This is a pretty nice chocolate bar for you chocolate purists out there. It's 75% cocoa solids. It's also equitrade which I have mentioned previously. This means that the chocolate bar is actually produced in Madagascar itself, and consequently can have positive impacts for local livelihoods.
So what did I think? I quite enjoyed it. I'm actually personally not an extremely dark chocolate fan, so it took a few bites for me to get accustomed to the bitter, slightly smoky flavor that chocolate bars with this level of cocoa often have. But afterwords, this bar stayed with me, and I kept coming back for bites.
So as ethical chocolate bars go, I recommend this one especially if you are a fan of dark chocolate. I give it an 9 out of ten.
