No excuse not to go green and opt for a bike

Those looking to go green may have already strapped on their pedaling shoes whenever possible to cut out the copious amount of carbon waste being pumped into the environment from transportation. Getting your cycle on is not only an excellent way to limit your reliance on fuel and then the harmful emissions, but it's a great way to stay in shape and maybe even shed a spare tire that isn't on your car or bike.

Yet at the same time, even though riding one's bike is becoming more and more of a possibility in growing number of biker friendly cities, there are still those hesitant to ditch their keys. Whether this be because your destination is too far away, you don't think you could get there fast enough, you don't want to arrive with pit stains, or are just too lazy, you may now be running out of excuses. The latest line of bikes are no longer going to leave you fated to using your own exertion alone to get things moving, and they could be meandering closer to the idea of a moped or scooter. Still, they will allow those inclined to get in a little workout the opportunity to do so.

Showcased at the Consumer Electric show in January, one in which there was an ever present go green theme, Sanyo introduced the Eneloop Electric bike. There is a battery back affixed to the bike and it kicks in on your command; pretty neat, no? Yes, they may be pricier than your average Huffy, but they will save you money on gas and the effect on Mother Nature is priceless. Sanyo isn't the only manufacturer of these newer models and you can find many of different versions sure to cater to your specific needs. There is the UM USPRITE that will be on the more budget friendly side, but it will give you all the benefits of this new electric power foot energy powered hybrid.

For trips to the store you could opt for the Izip Tricruiser, which is also more on the affordable side when taken into consideration, but it is equipped with a basket in the back and stabilized by three tires. Anyone going off-roading could go with the Elite Mountain Bike from E+ Electric Bikes and the battery will give you a boost of up to 30 mph. If you want to share a quick zip in go green style with a buddy, there is the Pedego Electric Tandem Bike and in addition to the dual pedaling apparatus it also has two alternative power sources with both a battery and a 750 watt motor. So for anyone still averse to traveling a la Lance Armstrong (Don't worry we wouldn't ask you to wear a yellow jersey or scale those grueling mountains in France either!) your reasons for doing so are dwindling. Do your part to limit the amount of greenhouse gas emissions released annually from those dirty cars of yours and get your bike on!
