Social Enterprise Soars In The Cloud
Many businesses and entrepreneurs are still tinkering with the thought of using the cloud to store information, but social enterprise is taking the cloud by storm.
A British social enterprise dedicated to putting people back to work recently switched to cloud data storage and has seen their business dramatically increase. Wise Group serves people in Scotland and north England and has a revenue of $34 million pounds each year.
The group switched from an aging and antiquated information technology system to the cloud as both a time and cost saving measure. The original system worked with servers as most do today, but they were constantly being updated and repaired to help keep up with the burgeoning company.
Wise Group decided the best course of action was to simply cut the cord and start new. The company's servers are gone and everything it taken care of by one of the largest company's in the world, Microsoft. All upgrades and repairs are taken care of the cloud data center, which is out of sight and out of mind. This allows the company to focus on putting people to work.
Wise Group has already switched much of its data service over to Microsoft and continues to convert as many of the company's systems over to the cloud.
The company has already gained a government contract and credit was given to the new flexible information technology infrastructure.
The cloud is bursting as people abandon traditional computer networks and data storage for virtual ones. Social enterprise organizations often have little capital for information technology support and maintenance. The cloud has become an alternative that allows companies needed computer infrastructure without the cost of large servers and employees to maintain and upgrade them.
Expect to see the cloud become a major force in the development of social enterprise organizations both in America and abroad.
