Abbott Ranked in Top 10 for Corporate Giving

Chronicle of Philanthropy 2012 Corporate Giving Survey

In its recent annual Corporate Giving Survey, The Chronicle of Philanthropy included Abbott as one of the Top 10 most generous companies in the U.S. Ranked 7th out of 166 of the largest U.S. companies, Abbott and the company's foundation, the Abbott Fund, were recognized for giving more than $730 million in grants and product donations in 2011. This represents a nearly 17 percent increase compared to 2010 giving.

Abbott's corporate giving focuses on critical unmet needs that directly align with the company's business, including expanding access to health care and advancing science education. This allows the company to apply its core capabilities, expertise, products and resources, working in partnership with organizations around the world.

One of Abbott’s most recent programs includes partnering with the U.S. Secretary of State's International Fund for Women and Girls to provide $1 million in funding that will advance health, education and economic opportunities for women in Burma (also known as Myanmar). The contributions of expert Abbott volunteers are an important part of Abbott's approach to corporate giving. Highly skilled employees are donating their time and expertise to help address critical community needs. In Haiti and India, Abbott scientists, engineers and other experts are helping to address malnutrition; Abbott scientists volunteer their time and expertise to help find new treatments for neglected diseases; and, Abbott lab technicians are volunteering on the ground to help strengthen Tanzania's hospital laboratories.
