Freeport-McMoRan Provides Technical Training for San Carlos Apache Tribe

Freeport-McMoRan’s training partnership program with the San Carlos Apache Tribe in Arizona provides vocational skills and job opportunities.

Freeport-McMoRan’s Mine Training Institute created the San Carlos Training Institute in 2013 to increase the employability skills and job opportunities for the San Carlos Apache Tribe students while growing a qualified workforce for company mine operations near the Globe-Miami area in Central Arizona.

The latest class session started in July 2019 and includes life skills coaching and training in everything from heavy equipment operations and maintenance to electrical applications. More than 640 students have graduated from the training institute as of June 2019.

Freeport-McMoRan employs 420 Native Americans.
