PNC Makes Newsweek’s Inaugural List of America’s Most Responsible Companies
Newsweek just published its first list of America’s Most Responsible Companies, and PNC made the list at No. 71.
“Companies, we all know, need to make a profit to prosper and survive,” Newsweek wrote. “But over the years, executives have come to realize that they need to do much more. That is, by giving back to the communities they operate in and standing up as good neighbors and citizens.”
Newsweek partnered with global data research firm Statista Inc. to arrive at the 300-company list. The analysis was carried out in a four-phase process, with more than 2,000 companies screened by different criteria. The detailed analysis consisted of an independent survey among 6,500 U.S. citizens and research based on publicly available key performance indicators like corporate annual reports, CSR reports, sustainability reports and corporate citizenship reports.
“At PNC, we believe our company should serve a greater purpose,” said Sally McCrady, head of the PNC Foundation, Community Affairs and Corporate Social Responsibility. “We’ve long believed that our success will be proportional to the prosperity we help to create for all of our stakeholders in the communities where we live and work.

It’s a barometer for our future progress that will only help us continue to improve.”
