Rewarding Work and Team-Building Define Booz Allen’s Norfolk, Virginia Office—A Top Workplaces 2019 Winner
Rewarding client work, a commitment to community service, and purposeful team-building activities and challenges have earned Booz Allen’s Norfolk, Virginia office recognition as a Top Work Place in Hampton Roads.

Inside Business, the Hampton Roads Business Journal, announced the honorees in a special section September 16. To compile the list, third-party research firm Energage conducted an anonymous survey measuring several aspects of workplace culture. Nearly 500 Booz Allen employees responded, demonstrating the teamwork that personifies the Norfolk office.
“We’re doing so many things that really make a difference in the mission of our clients,” said Jason Tone, director of the Navy/Marine Corps Fleet line of business. Booz Allen’s Norfolk employees work on cloud solutions, cybersecurity, systems engineering, and more in support of military and commercial clients. “Collaboration makes us better—it pushes us to bring our best game.”
Norfolk employees also join forces volunteering for the Special Olympics, the American Cancer Society, and International Coastal Cleanup and tackling the challenges of the office’s Propel program. Through activities from digital scavenger hunts to treetop obstacle courses, Norfolk employees collaborate and grow together.
Standing out in a competitive labor market
With a population of more than 1.7 million, the Virginia Beach-Norfolk region is the second-largest metropolitan area in Virginia. It’s also a competitive labor market, home to major employers including GEICO, Bank of America, and the NASA Langley Research Center. Only 25 companies made the 2019 Top Workplaces list.
