Comerica recently enjoyed the honor of hosting more than 90 North Texas corporate responsibility professionals from local corporations and nonprofit organizations at its corporate headquarters in Dallas. The event, titled “Local Acts with Global Impacts,” was organized by 3BL Media and focused on the importance of using local programs to drive large-scale positive impacts. Comerica’s Corporate Sustainability Director Scott Beckerman and Diversity & Inclusion Director Nathan Bennett joined representatives from Kimberly-Clark and Alliance Data to share their insights. Comerica shared examples on a broad variety of programs, from how they support the financial needs of diverse customers to helping prevent identity theft through Shred Day programs.

Comerica also shared how it aligns their action with global impacts using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Examples included how Comerica works to support quality education (SDG 4) by providing businesses and individuals financial education and resources, support gender equality (SDG 5) with 66 percent of employees and 51 percent of managers being women, and pledged to reduce greenhouse gases 50 percent by 2025 to support climate action (SDG13).

“It was inspiring to see representatives from different industries gather together to learn and share ideas on addressing community needs that align with their business activities,” Beckerman said. “It is clear that business and community partners are truly achieving global impacts through actions that often begin at the local level.”

“Corporate responsibility and sustainability matter now on a local and global level. We wanted Dallas-area professionals to hear from experts across industries how they’re making an impact through areas like diversity and inclusion, renewable energy and data,” said 3BL Media CEO Dave Armon. “Attendees left feeling inspired, informed and better connected to other professionals. We thank Comerica for hosting and sharing insights, best practices and stories alongside Kimberly-Clark and Alliance Data.”
