She Explores the Outdoors

Gale Straub was working a finance job in Boston, her home of nearly a decade, when her partner, Jon, suggested they take a yearlong road trip. That was 2013. Fifteen months later, the couple had planned and saved enough to quit their jobs, pack their bags and go. They had just one meandering goal: to see as much of the country as possible.

Despite being an avid photographer, Straub wasn’t content to simply post enviable photos of an itinerant life on Instagram. She dreamed of an adventure-oriented community where women could share real stories and experiences. So, she started a website, she-explores.com, to profile the women she was meeting on her adventure.
