Did you hear that?

The sound you didn’t hear yesterday was 65 original Chevrolet Volt owners cruising noiselessly down the legendary Woodward Avenue to show that kilowatts can be just as much fun as horsepower. GM chose the few days before the Woodward Dream Cruise—a globally known event dedicated to showing off cruisers and hot rods—for the vehicle’s first homecoming.

About 1.5 million people are expected to attend this year’s Dream Cruise to celebrate the history and evolution of the automobile, so it’s fitting for the Volt to be a part of the festivities.

GM is committed to building fuel-efficient vehicles that fit our customers’ diverse lifestyles, and believes electrically driven vehicles offer the best long-term solution for sustainable transportation. The Volt is an example of a practical, environmentally friendly vehicle that’s also fun to drive.

While in town, Volt owners will also meet with race car drivers and Volt owners Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon; talk with GM leaders who brought the Volt to life; and participate in a Q&A breakfast with Bob Lutz on how the Volt became a reality.
