Each year, Federal Computer Week’s (FCW) Rising Star Awards recognize men and women the magazine calls “early-career phenoms whose leadership, innovation and all-around extra effort are having a powerful and positive impact on federal IT.”

Booz Allen Lead Associate Jennifer Lee, who works in the office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the Department of Defense (DoD), is among the 2017 honorees. In her role at the DoD, Jennifer is responsible for a variety of broad IT related actions in the areas of cloud computing, emerging innovative technologies, enterprise services, data center consolidation and DoD policy development.

Tony Simon, the Director of Enterprise Capabilities for the Office of the DoD CIO, nominated Jennifer for the award. He shared, “In my many years of experience working in the Defense Department as a senior civilian employee, Jennifer’s knowledge of the DoD Information Environment is unparalleled.  She has a unique ability to understand the complexity of IT, couple that with her awareness of the mission of the Defense Department, and then find the best way to forge a successful path forward.  Her superb writing skills and mature verbal talent have been outstanding assets that are usually missing from today’s young stars.”

Jennifer said, “It’s a real honor to be recognized by FCW.  But I am humbled each and every day by the government and contractor talent tackling the challenges of modernizing the DoD’s IT.  This award actually reflects the efforts of a great Booz Allen team and the government action officers who continue to break cultural and technology barriers.”

The magazine selected the  FCW Rising Stars both for their accomplishments over the past year and for their leadership potential in the federal IT community. Colleagues and peers will celebrate the awardees at the dig IT Awards Gala, to be held October 19.
