Republic Services has a longstanding commitment to our military and to the men and women who serve our country.
In honor of Veterans Day, we recognized our many employees who are veterans and active service members at a celebration at our headquarters – attended by nearly 600 employees. This gave us the opportunity to launch an important employee business resource group named V.A.L.O.R. (Veterans, Advocacy, Learning, Outreach and Recruiting) that will create a network of veterans and military supporters across our company who are passionate about helping veterans.
Over the past several years, we’ve continued to intensify our efforts to hire veterans and active service members. We value the unique perspectives veterans bring to our company through their military skillsets, leadership, accountability and attention to detail. V.A.L.O.R. supports these efforts and offers our employees the opportunity to meet and connect with veterans and colleagues nationwide to learn from each other, participate in community outreach programs that benefit veterans, and support the development and recruitment of those transitioning from military service.
While hiring our nation’s heroes provides great value, we also know that retaining them is just as important. To help with this, we provide specialized training to assist in a successful transition from military service to a career at Republic, and we also proudly partner with several organizations to recruit and retain veterans and active military service members.
