At Logitech, we believe that the digital world belongs to everyone. We also believe that together we can drive big change - together with those activists and organisations that are working towards eliminating discrimination. Because of these beliefs, we are making a $100,000 donation to The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), in support of their Social Media Safety Index (SMSI)

GLAAD’s Social Media Safety Index (SMSI) marks the first-ever baseline evaluation of the LGBTQ+ user safety experience across the social media landscape. The Index provides recommendations for the industry at large and reports on LGBTQ user safety across social platforms that include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok.

As a complement to the Social Media Safety Index, GLAAD also created an Anti-LGBTQ Online Hate Speech Listing which serves as an ongoing tool and resource for achieving greater online safety.

“I am thrilled that Logitech is joining forces with GLAAD on its Social Media Safety Index, which delivers extensive, actionable recommendations to the tech industry to combat harassment and hate speech, and create a safe and inclusive experience for the LGBTQ community across social media and streaming platforms,” says Sam Harnett, Logitech General Counsel.

“At a time when harassment and attacks on the LGBTQ community are on the rise, GLAAD's mission to drive acceptance of the LGBTQ community has never been more important,” Sam says.

This donation is made through the Logitech Cares Donor Advised Fund (DAF) held at Tides Foundation.
