During the past year, the Arbor Day Foundation has partnered with Marriott International to include a tree planting component as part of their Make a Green Choice program. By participating in Make a Green Choice, guests can choose to forgo housekeeping services and have a tree planted on their behalf for each eligible night of their stay. The partnership increases reforestation efforts and enhances the resiliency of forests across the United States while also engaging a larger audience in support of tree planting.

The option to plant trees through Make a Green Choice launched in 468 U.S. Marriott International hotels in 2019, planting more than 100,000 trees in the first year. The program is expanding to all Marriott properties with the environmental impact being two-fold — reducing energy, water, and chemical usage while restoring forests nationwide.
