On July 27th more than 300 "Littles" mentored by the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay’s (BBBSMB) joined in the organization’s summer outing at Jamaica Plain’s Southwest Corridor Park. Thanks to the generosity of two shoe companies, the kids received a donation that represents the organization’s mission: to set their constituents on the right path in life.

For more than 60 years, BBBSMB has worked to mentor children – or “Littles” - and help them get support from caring adults in order to develop healthily into adulthood. Assisted children perform better with at school, get along better with their families and are less likely to use drugs and alcohol. “PlanetShoes is honored to partner with New Balance to make a donation of this scale to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay,” said Phil Meynard, President of PlanetShoes.

“Their service to the Boston community is invaluable and we’re incredibly happy to support another local organization.” Both companies are market pioneers in social responsibility and sustainability. PlanetShoes was the first to offer a CarbonFree shipping alternative while New Balance is currently the only athletic shoe company that manufactures footwear in the U.S., with 25% of its U.S. footwear shipments produced at five New England facilities. The company also operates a manufacturing facility in Flimby, U.K.
