Nuts about Southwest - Southwest Airlines Blog

By David Williams, President and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation   The holidays are a wonderful time of the year for people to reflect on their fondest wishes – for themselves and others – and to join in the season’s precious spirit of giving.   It’s the Season of Wishes® at the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, but our staff and nearly 25,000 volunteers across the country are making children’s wishes come true every day…one every 40 minutes in fact. We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions only through the generosity of people and companies who donate their time and resources to make our mission possible.   This holiday season, we’re proud to team with Southwest Airlines in a unique promotion that uses the Facebook Places application. When travelers check-in at Southwest airports using Facebook Places they can give the gift of travel to these courageous children.   For each check-in Southwest Airlines will donate $1 in travel to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $300,000.  To learn more about how to participate, click here:  www.southwest.com/fbplaces   After nearly 40 years of service, Southwest Airlines continues to differentiate itself from other low fare carriers—offering a reliable product with exemplary Customer Service.  Southwest Airlines is the nation's largest carrier in terms of originating domestic passengers boarded, now serving 69 cities in 35 states with service to Charleston and Greenville-Spartanburg beginning March 13, 2011 and service to Newark Liberty International beginning March 27, 2011.  Southwest also is one of the most honored airlines in the world known for its commitment to the triple bottom line of Performance, People, and Planet.  To read more about how Southwest Airlines is doing its part to be a good citizen, visit southwest.com/cares to read the Southwest Airlines One Report™.  Based in Dallas, Southwest currently operates more than 3,100 flights a day and has nearly 35,000 Employees systemwide.
