Used in the printed circuit boards of smartphones, gold is also one of the four conflict minerals identified by the Dodd-Frank Act, which put a spotlight on trade in gold, tin, tantalum and tungsten that finances rebel groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
