Effects Of Climate Change

Why rich people care less about the environment

Last week I ran across a NY Times article whose topic was the trials and tribulations of NBA basketball stars.

The Future of Energy #5

As I said in my last blog, the future of energy is being reshaped and some amazing new technologies are emerging. I am sharing a few of these technologies because they are imaginative and inspiring. They show just how ingenious scientists and entrepreneurs can be when they unite for a common cause. I am no expert, so if you run across something else or have something to add, please let me know!

Carbon Emissions Kill Children

In case you need more reasons to act on climate change you can add this to your list: Carbon emissions kill children. I admit it sounds a bit audacious but research by Ian Roberts of the London School of Hygene and Tropical Disease shows its true!

The Future of Energy #4

The Future of Energy #3

10 Principles for a Black Swan-proof world

Nassim Talib recently revolutionized thinking about large-impact, hard-to-predict, and rare events beyond the realm of normal expectations, known as “Black Swans”.

The Future of Energy #2

As I said in my last blog, the future of energy is being reshaped and some amazing new technologies are emerging. I am sharing a few of these technologies because they are imaginative and inspiring. They show just how ingenious scientists and entrepreneurs can be when they unite for a common cause.

The Future of Energy #1

Energy is a basic human need but the way we currently produce and use it is environmentally unsustainable. Energy-related activities account for 80 % of total carbon emissions in the US and despite efficiency improvements global demand is increasing exponentially. No matter how many homes are insulated and low-carbon products developed, a sustainable future requires wholesale change in the way that we generate energy.

A Missed Opportunity

I wrote last week about the opportunity for world leaders to merge the global environmental and economic agenda at the expanded G20 summit in London. I ended my blog optimistically by saying “This is an opportunity to advance the green agenda second only to Copenhagen and it means that this year, more than ever, environmentalists have a good reason to make their voices heard.”
