Did you know that at the Zappos.com headquarters in downtown Las Vegas, they have a clever office recycling program? They removed individual trash cans that were once placed at each of their 2,000 desks to improve recycling habits. Recycling bins are spread throughout the building, including in all open-office spaces and break-rooms on each floor. This effort has encouraged employees to properly sort waste at the recycling stations on each floor, which has successfully decreased waste and increased recycling efforts in the workplace.

At Zappos.com, the purpose of their Corporate Social Responsibility program is to elevate the Zappos brand and operations to a new level of environmental awareness and stewardship by engaging the Zappos Family in initiatives and projects that benefit the community and the environment. Recycling and waste management are a huge components of that mission.

In 2011, Zappos created the LEAF Team, which is their employee-driven sustainability team. One of their first priorities was to improve recycling practices at Zappos. Ever since those initial efforts, the LEAF team has been focusing on reducing waste and increasing recycling at Zappos in a fun and responsible way.

Zappos urges employees to make sustainably conscious decisions every day. They want you to do the same – so please recycle that famous white Zappos box whenever possible! www.zappos.com
