AEP ranks among the nations largest generators of electricity, owning nearly 38,000 megawatts of generating capacity in the U.S. AEP also owns the nations largest electricity transmission system, a nearly 39,000-mile network that includes more 765 kilovolt extra-high voltage transmission lines than all other U.S. transmission systems combined.

AEPs utility units operate as AEP Ohio, AEPTexas, Appalachian Power (in Virginia, West Virginia), AEPAppalachian Power (inTennessee), Indiana Michigan Power, Kentucky Power, Public Service of Oklahoma, and Southwestern Electric Power Company (in Arkansas, Louisiana and east Texas).

Safety doesn’t take a holiday.  We still have several downed lines, please stay away from all downed power lines and assume they are energized.  AEP is working around the clock to restore your power – you will see linemen working today.  Please don’t park by utility trucks – that will slow down restoration.  Stay safe and have a great July 4th!
