Aramark Building Community Program Touches Millions of Lives Worldwide

(3BL Media/Justmeans) – Aramark Building Community is the signature volunteer and philanthropic program of Aramark Corporation, a Fortune “World’s Most Admired Company 2014,” and an Ethisphere “World’s Most Ethical Company 2014.” Through Aramark Building Community, the company enriches communities by helping to improve family health, prepare youth and adults for work, and support individuals and families working their way out of poverty.

Since its inception, the Aramark Building Community program has expanded to 52 cities around the world, making an impact on the lives of more than four million individuals and families, and engaging thousands of employee volunteers. The company has also contributed over $8 million since 2008 through cash grants, employee volunteerism and product donations toward improving neighborhood centers.

On any given day, Aramark dietitians may be found teaching nutrition classes, facilities managers refurbishing community center buildings, or its human resources professionals discussing career opportunities with at-risk youth. Regional groups of the company’s employees, called the Aramark Star Teams, adopt local community centers and build sustainable partnerships. Through Star Teams, the company helps meet the needs of individual communities in multiple geographies.

On March 19, 2014, Aramark organized a Global Volunteer Day, when thousands of Aramark employees volunteered together, bringing their collective energy and expertise to help build and strengthen the communities. The theme of the Global Volunteer Day was “Inspiring Kids to be Healthy for Life.” It included programs focusing on empowering children and families around the world to make healthy nutrition and activity choices.

The company’s employees mobilized in a hands-on opportunity to impact the wellness of thousands of children around the world. They participated in a wide range of projects that inspired kids to stay healthy and active. Volunteers created new play spaces, encouraged kids to eat healthy snacks and educated them about nutrition and wellness with demonstrations and food samplings by Aramark’s expert dietitians and culinary professionals.
