Empowering Businesses To Give Back: eGood
(3BL Media/Justmeans) - A new and exciting California company, -eGood has been chosen this month as one of the top start-ups to emerge out of Start-up Alley at TechCrunch Disrupt SF for its charitable spin on mobile payments and loyalty. eGood is a mobile platform, with Zack Swire at the helm as its CEO and founder. It is a concept that brings purpose and profit together, empowering consumers and businesses to give back to good causes through purchasing power.
eGood is an in-store check-in and loyalty platform that enables those patronising their favourite local businesses to not only buy a coffee, but to give back to a local charity while doing so. eGood brings capitalism and activism together in an effective way that creates a win-win situation for everyone involved. It is leading the way in an important and growing market.
This social enterprise has also recently raised $3M in Angel Funding from global serial investor Wolfgang Buehler, an entrepreneur and eGood board member who has led and participated in a number of successful multimillion dollar deals. This seed funding has been used to continue developing its current mobile and in-store check-in for charity platforms, and to also expand its presence in the Southern California region, including other parts of the U.S.
The organisations that partner with eGood are able to make donations from one, three, or five per cent of customer transactions to charities of their choice. The company will soon be testing its fundraiser application, designed to enable businesses to contribute 10, 20, or 30 per cent to beneficiaries. It is essentially providing a simple way for any business, big or small, to choose to support a good cause as part of its daily operations. It is not done in a way that burdens the company. Instead, it’s a way to build true loyalty, to treat customers better and to bring more profit to the business through purpose.
Classic Coffee, eGood’s first partner, is finding that ‘purpose’ is at the forefront of all its customers’ purchases and a big motivator. Within six months, the coffee business has had 5,900 check-ins for charity. By comparison, while this business has had 1,776 Foursquare check-ins total since 2011, the average check-ins per day with eGood is 25 times higher! eGood allows any business to use today’s emerging technology for social good.
