Ironridge Global Launches Green Initiative to Finance Sustainable Businesses
(3BL Media/Justmeans) â With its eyes firmly set on the green market as a lucrative investment opportunity, Ironridge Global Partners, LLC has launched a green initiative to fund sustainable public companies. The institutional investor views the micro-cap sector, the focus of its green investments, as highly promising. The new investment initiative will fund sustainable companies, including emerging growth enterprises that target environmental sustainability and eco-friendly products and services.
The launch of Ironridge Globalâs green initiative has been marked by a direct financing deal worth $10 million for Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. Ascent manufactures flexible thin-film solar photovoltaic modules. The funding from Ironridge will go to support the companyâs growth and expansion of its new EnerPlex series of solar powered consumer products.
Ironridge Global has paid more than $6 Million to Cereplast, Inc. and its creditors. Cereplast is an innovative company engaged in the manufacture of bio-based, compostable and sustainable bio-plastics. Ironridge also paid another $6 Million to organic agriculture and aquaculture company Sino Agro Food, Inc. and its suppliers.
Ironridge has funded nearly $5 million to pay off the creditors of Jammin Java Corp., which also includes payments to its suppliers of sustainably grown and ethically farmed Marley Coffee. The investment company also funded more than $2.5 million to the suppliers of Green Innovations Ltd. This payment was made towards the inventory of biodegradable, recycled and bamboo-based baby wipes and bath tissue.
John C. Kirkland, Managing Director of Ironridge Global Partners, LLC, quoted the 2013 Small Business Sustainability Report to point out that growth rates of green product businesses are outpacing traditional alternatives. The growth in this green segment is driven largely by a consistent increase in consumer demand for eco-friendly biodegradable products. Therefore, Ironridge Global views the green market as a major investment opportunity, particularly in the micro-cap sector, and is aggressively seeking new earth-friendly public company investments.
