Microsoft, Walt Disney, Google and BMW Adjudged Companies with Best CSR Reputation
(3BL Media/Justmeans) – Microsoft, the Walt Disney Company, Google and BMW have been named as the companies with the best corporate social responsibility reputation by the Reputation Institute, a corporate reputation management consultancy organization. The company’s study, “2013 Global CSR RepTrack 100,” called it a four-way tie at the top between these four companies.
The other six companies among the top 10 in the list include Daimler, Sony, Intel, Volkswagen, Apple and Nestle, in that order. The best perception for citizenship belongs to the Walt Disney Company. Nearly half of the consumers surveyed said that Disney supports good causes and protects the environment. The report also indicated that nearly three out of four global consumers are willing to recommend companies that enjoy a perception of delivering on their CSR programs.
The results of the study reveal that companies whichmake an effort to create the right perceptions about their CSR programs stand to gain in terms of sales and recommendations from consumers. However, the report says that even the largest global companies are struggling to communicate their message to the consumers effectively, despite spending heavily on their CSR programs.
The CSR RepTrack 100 survey covered more than 55,000 consumers across 15 countries. The study results also reveal that three in five consumers would also make an extra effort to say something positive about businesses they see as being good corporate citizens. Kasper Ulf Nielsen, executive partner at Reputation Institute, said that word of mouth is a key business driver and a marketing tool that companies need to leverage better. A few other studies, apart from the RepTrack survey have also come up with similar findings regarding consumers’ response to the companies they perceive as being responsible corporate entities.
