MTV on YouTube: Christmas is the Time to Say I Love You

Isn't this what Christmas should really be about? Love, right? As I write this, I listen to Billy Squier on repeat; and I swing, sway and jump in my revolving chair! This upbeat, fun, melodic tune which magically found itself in my Facebook newsfeed a few days back is my favourite thing this season (Thanks to my Facebook friend, Ron Estrada) And I would love for you all to enjoy  this while you read. Thanks to social media, something I missed on MTV back then, makes me merry 30 years later.

Billy Squire: Christmas is the Time to Say I Love You

I didn't grow up celebrating this holiday but living in America taught me to appreciate the cheer and warmth that emanates from every inch of our surroundings this time of the year. The drab winter blues and bitter cold become so much more pleasant to deal with during the holiday season. And no, it's not about the crazy sales or Oprah's favourite things as Bill Maher puts it or selling Charlie Brown's infamous Christmas tree at Walgreens- which takes away the whole point of why Charlie Brown chose that tree in the first place.

Well, today I have nothing to hate because this season we should all resolve to spread the joy and love, like Squier does in the video posted above. Whatever it is, we should be glad for YouTube, Facebook and other social media networks that bring us closer in this time and age and make it so much easier for us to "share the joy and the laughter and the good cheer!" (insert: smiley face)

What other ways have you thought of saying I love you to the most important people in your life? Please do think about those less fortunate who are struggling with issues we are fortunate enough to have missed.

For us here in Chicago, it shall be a white Christmas and I wish you all a Merry Christmas!

To quote a few words from my favourite song this season:

Just outside the window snow is falling
but here beside the fire we share the glow
of moonlight and brandy, sweet talk and candy
sentiments that everyone should know
Memories of the year that lays behind us
wishes for the year that's yet to come
and it stands to reason that good friends in season
make you feel that life has just begun

Christmas is the time to say "I love you"
Share the joys of laughter and good cheer
Christmas is the time to say "I love you"
And a feeling that will last all through the year

So when spirits grow lighter
and hopes are shinin' brighter
then you know that Christmas time is here
