The Business Environment Partnership (BEP), was established in 1998 to provide free and subsidised assistance with environmental management to small to medium sized businesses throughout Scotland. We currently have office bases in three main regions.

We offer a range of core services, the principal aim of which is to make the Scottish economy more competitive by allowing companies to realise:

  • cost savings through waste management, energy efficiency, reduced effluent production, reduced water and raw material consumption, etc.
  • reduced risks through compliance with environmental legislation
  • improved competitive advantage through the development of new products and services; and by enabling companies to operate in supply chains that demand specific environmental credentials, e.g. ISO14001 and the Green Tourism Business Scheme

We are a unique organisation in that we are a wholly funded partnership of over 40 public and private sector organisations, and are fully integrated into the national enterprise network.

Our work makes a highly valuable contribution directly to the following Scottish Executive Strategies:

  1. Smart, Successful Scotland
  2. National Waste Strategy
  3. Area Waste Plans
  4. Green Jobs Strategy
  5. Climate Change Strategy
  6. Sustainable Development Strategy
  7. Biodiversity Action Plans
  8. Urban Habitat Action Plan

We are accredited to the international environmental management system ISO14001.
