Buildings in China account for 50% of raw materials use, 42 percent of carbon emissions, and more than 40% of waste output. Any comprehensive attempt to curb climate change needs to acknowledge these facts and transform our approach to construction, old and new.   According to overall estimates by 2008, only around 1% existing buildings and 5% new buildings in China achieve the national green building and energy saving standard. Around 21 billion squares construction have the problems of high energy consumption and low energy efficiency etc.

To achieve the goal of 2 stages of China government, by 2010 the building market should obtain the 50% energy saving target, and 65% by 2020. Thus China government will utilize and make new tax, financial and technical regulations to urge the sustainable building development.
