Overview

National nonprofit Keep America Beautiful believes that each of us holds an obligation to preserve and protect our environment. Through our everyday choices and actions, we collectively have a huge impact on our world. It's really a simple concept, but one with far reaching effects.

Keep America Beautiful follows a practical approach that unites citizens, businesses and government to find solutions that advance our core issues of preventing litter, reducing waste, and beautifying communities.

Our mission is "engaging individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community environments."

Of course, the diverse American landscape consists of many different "community environments," each with their own interconnected needs and challenges. With a national grassroots network of nearly 1000 local affiliates and participating organizations, we combine education with hands-on stewardship to address the needs of communities on an intensely local and effective level.

Check out our new facebook ap at http://apps.facebook.com/messageinabottle launched in conjunction with Naked Juice to celebrate America's first 100% recycled beverage bottle! This is huge, and sets a new standard for all beverage comapnies. In the facebook ap, you can put a message into a virtual bottle, send it to friends, and then track its travels. Everytime a bottle gets "recycled" by being passed on, 5 cents is donated to Keep America Beautiful, Inc. Check it out!

It's great to see established non-profits using the tools of social media to empower their mission.
