Enforcement and punishment are essential to youth justice but we are already criminalising a generation of our children through such means.  Last year 93,730 children entered the youth justice system and 6% of those convicted were imprisoned.   Punishing individual parents won’t stem this flow and ignores the fact that at least a third of young offenders are in the care of a corporate parent – their local authority.
