Table to Table rescues food and delivers it to those who need it most.
We’re a community-based food rescue organization that collects prepared and perishable food that would otherwise be wasted. We deliver it daily to organizations that serve the hungry in a four-county region of Northern New Jersey. This fresh food is delivered free of charge to nearly 50 agencies throughout the area, including elder care facilities, homeless shelters, homes for victims of domestic violence, and pantries serving the "working poor."
With four refrigerated vehicles and dedicated drivers, Table to Table picks up food that is unable to be sold, but still of good quality from restaurants, supermarkets, farms and other foodservice companies. This food is delivered on the same day it is donated, so it stays fresh, and we keep our costs low.
We’re committed to delivering only the best for our recipients: fresh, wholesome foods, including meats and dairy and whole grains. We avoid canned foods and other non-perishables, because fresh food is simply healthier.
In 2009 we’ll deliver enough food to serve more than 6,000,000 meals. And we’ll do it an astoundingly efficient rate – less than 10¢ per meal.
We accept no government funding - 100% of our operating budget comes from private donations, and it has been that way since we started 10 years ago. We need your help to keep our trucks rolling and delivering the meals to our neighbors who are struggling with their food emergencies.
