WASHINGTON, September 3, 2020 /3BL Media/ – Earth Day Network, the global organizer of Earth Day, today announced a partnership with National CleanUp Day® and Keep America Beautiful® to remove trash across the United States amid a global pandemic. Throughout the month of September, Earth Day Network joins these organizations in encouraging Americans to get outside and safely clean up their communities.
In the United States, 15.9% of people are food insecure, meaning they do not have access to a sufficient source of food. In Arizona, the number is higher, rising to 17.8%. Established in 1967, St. Mary’s Food Bank is one of the most well-known organizations in Arizona combatting food insecurity in nine of the state’s 15 counties. In 2019-20, St. Mary’s Food Bank distributed more than 107 million pounds of food to those in need.
Keep America Beautiful Affiliate in Florida Joins Volunteers to Plant New Mangroves
Following a maintenance error that resulted in the unpermitted removal of local mangroves, a Florida municipality partnered with Keep Lee County Beautiful (KLCB) to restore the affected area. One year ago, the municipality’s staff was approved to remove mangroves that were impeding a local waterway but unfortunately went beyond the permitted section resulting in a mandate to restore the area.
Raleigh is a 72-year-old Army veteran who lives in Oakland, California. He served in the military for 27 years and was stationed at Oakland Army Base where he worked as an engineer building ports.
Raleigh met his beloved wife in 1994 and he retired from the military thereafter. After many years spent traveling the country for work, Raleigh and his wife purchased a home in Oakland and started a family.
Sadly, Raleigh’s wife passed away in 2002. While he now lives alone, Raleigh’s top priority has always been making sure his home is safe and healthy for his family.

Coming off the heels of an excellent first-ever Virtual Community Day, the momentum of giving back from home continued as the ViacomCBS Campus to Career and Social Responsibility teams joined forces to ensure once again that summer interns would have the vital opportunity to volunteer from home this year. As an intern on the Social Responsibility team, it felt extra special to be able to help develop a meaningful, give-back experience for all the ViacomCBS summer interns.
Many companies hold an annual Month of Giving during which they enjoy a 60-80% boost in participation in volunteering, giving, and other corporate citizenship activities due to increased communication and awareness. We support annual events like this (within certain parameters) because they provide an opportunity for employees to see and discover corporate citizenship opportunities.

Today, factors prevent individuals from exercising their human rights. From global health crises, like COVID-19, to slavery, racial justice, and climate change, there are individuals around the world working to protect and defend the human rights we all share.
