BENTONVILLE, Ark., March 20, 2019 /3BL Media/ – In response to the floods that have impacted midwestern states including Iowa and Nebraska, Walmart, Sam’s Club and the Walmart Foundation have committed to provide $100,000 in support through cash and product donations. The commitment includes $50,000 in product donations to organizations providing support to impacted areas, and cash commitments of $50,000 to the Red Cross and United Way, which are providing relief services to affected communities.

First responders put their lives at risk daily, and Verizon supports these heroes. That’s why we recently made a $10,000 investment to the First Responders Foundation that will help expand and grow the Foundation, serving more first responders.
Based in Omaha, NE, the First Responder Foundation partners directly with police and fire departments to serve and honor first responders and their families, build appreciation and respect for their work and enhance public safety.
Marshall Thomson is a ski patroller in Crested Butte, Colo., but drove to southeast Nebraska to pick up his dog from a breeder at just 8 weeks old. The 12-hour ride back took 36 hours when Thomson and his puppy encountered what he describes as the worst snowstorm he’s seen in his life.
“We were cuddled up in a sleeping bag in the middle of the highway,” Thomson said. “I didn’t know if she’d ever go out in snow after that storm because it was pretty brutal.

In alignment with its commitment to solving global water issues, Xylem has responded to several natural disasters that occurred in 2018. The most recent disaster that prompted Xylem employees to act was Hurricane Florence, which caused devastation in North and South Carolina. In preparation of the storm, the local Xylem Commercial Team deployed dewatering pumps and equipment to its customers to help them withstand the weather and protect critical infrastructure to mitigate the negative impacts of the storm.
