We’re proud to announce that the Haworth Kerry Center Organic Office and Showroom, a 12,917 square-foot showroom, is the first WELL Certified pilot project in China. An example of wellness, sustainability, creative thinking and beautiful design, the showroom reflects Haworth’s vision for its employees and its clients. The showroom is designed to accommodate different work styles, events and workshops while providing a sense of sophistication, style and warmth.

That’s why this September we released the WELL Community Standard™, a new standard for the certification of healthy communities that aims to elevate human wellness to the forefront of community building and design practices, and deliver cutting-edge health interventions at the district scale.

Healthcare is a hot topic – who gets it, who pays for it, who insures it. Oftentimes, though, there’s something lost in the discussion and that’s who provides our healthcare. Specifically, who are the people employed to care for others and what are the challenges they face?
In some ways, these questions, and their answers, are the most fundamental to hospital and patient outcomes. It’s these doctors, nurses, administrators and support staff who are key to the quality of our entire healthcare system.
In 2016, we sponsored and participated in the tenth annual International Mines Rescue Competition in Sudbury, Ontario. The well-attended competition is a global event focused on improving mine rescue knowledge and safety practices, as well as providing an opportunity for participants to demonstrate their abilities and commitment to excellence in mine safety. There were 27 mine rescue teams, representing 13 nations, competing in a number of events including an underground scenario, firefighting exercises, first aid and a high angle rope rescue.
Safety for employees and the communities they come from was the theme for De Beers Group’s Global Safety Day.
All round the Group, people held special sessions where the emphasis was on the need to be vigilant on safety – at work, on the way to and from work and at home. The company takes the view that safety does not stop at the mine gate but extends to its host communities.
CEO Bruce Cleaver told employees in a video message: “The only production we care about is safe production.” He said no diamond was worth a human life. And Stephen Lussier, Executive Vice-President, De Beers Group Consumer and Brand, stressed at a safety session in London that “safety is not someone else’s job”.
