Better educational opportunities for Zambia's future

The Otto Group and the Aid by Trade Foundation have launched a project to promote Zambia's school infrastructure. With the cooperation of the Dunavant Zambia cotton company and the DEG - Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (the German investment and development company), the project will ensure that around 7,000 girls and boys in the Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) initiative project region will soon have better access to education.

Nalco  has received a 2011 WateReuse Award for our work encouraging industrial water reuse, especially through our 3D TRASAR automation technology which combines innovative chemistry, advanced sensors, and sophisticated modeling software to monitor water conditions continuously and add appropriate treatment only when needed.
 
The Annual WateReuse Awards provide industry recognition for successful projects, products, and individuals that have made significant contributions to advancing water reuse or desalination. The awards typically recognize projects that advance sustainable sources of water or offer a novel approach to meeting local water needs. 

Fund to Combine Public and Private Partners for Global Humanitarian Programs

Global Impact today launched the Relief and Development Accelerator Fund, a new matching fund to advance giving and awareness for worldwide health programs. The new initiative supports Global Impact’s alliance of 58 U.S.-based international charities. Charities will meet established criteria to be eligible to compete for the $1.2 million, and report regularly on the measured success of the programs funded. The competitive funding process is open to all charity partners meeting established criteria by January 2012.

The study reveals that using household garbage, tires and even plastic to manufacture cement would produce fewer greenhouse gases and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill than the fossil fuels currently used.

Children's Specialized Hospital Foundation Receives $500,000

Employees and supporters of  L’Oréal USA Corporate Operations North America, based in Clark, New Jersey, gathered today for the company’s fourth annual charity golf outing, Fore the Children, held at both Fiddler's Elbow Country Club in Bedminster Township and Fox Hollow Country Club in Branchburg. L’Oréal USA raised a record breaking $500,000 from this year’s event to benefit Children’s Specialized Hospital. L’Oréal’s gift will support the expansion of the hospital’s outpatient services, improving access to comprehensive rehabilitation care for children affected by brain injury, spinal cord injury, premature birth, autism, developmental delays, and life-changing illnesses. Last year the event raised more than $400,000 to benefit the hospital.
