ABOUT 2008 Social Enterprise Conference

Columbia Business Schools Social Enterprise and International Development Clubs will host the 7th Annual Social Enterprise Conference. This years Conference, The Moment of NOW: Market Innovations in Social Enterprise, will be held on Friday, October 24, 2008 at The Riverside Church, steps away from Columbia Universitys Morningside Campus in New York City. The Conference coincides with the annual Botwinick Award, a distinction that is bestowed upon an outstanding leader, individual or representative of a business organization, exemplifying the highest standard of professional or ethical conduct. The recipient and keynote speaker this year is Jeff Immelt, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Electric Corporation.

The 2008 Annual Social Enterprise Conference will bring industry leaders, students, academics and practitioners together to refine the role of social enterprise in an ever-changing, global market. Diverse panel discussions will examine the ways in which for profits and nonprofits have engaged in crossing traditional barriers to enable the proliferation of market innovations in social enterprise - how social enterprise principals and practices are being put into action NOW.

Joining keynote speaker Jeff Immelt, CEO of General Electric, are speakers from: McKinsey & Company, National Resource Defense Council, Patagonia, PepsiCo, SkyFuel, Inc., Uncommon Schools & Zephyr Capital.
