Ethical Sourcing Forum - New York, March 18-19, 2010
Description:
We welcome you to this year’s Ethical Sourcing Forum-North America (March 18-19, 2010), a unique industry event that brings together members of the global sustainability community in order to address emerging sustainability and ethical supply chain challenges.
ESF North America 2010 is where you will find applied innovation and the latest solutions-development processes that yield social and environmental progress while advancing core business objectives.
The ESF mandate is to investigate practical pathways for robust Return-on-Sustainability-Investment (ROSI ) as well as breakthrough solutions with real business value.
Business the world over is changing as players learn to visualize a new future and rethink the strategy needed to get there.
The new name of the game is to recognize social and environmental realities as drivers – rather than inhibitors – of business success.
Intertek Sustainability Solutions’ Ethical Sourcing Forum-North America 2010 offers a ‘deep-dive’ investigation of the latest advances in sustainability decision-making. We have structured our event according to three tracks: Visualize, Re-Think, Solve! – crucial elements of any sustainability program today.

Christopher Foss 23 March 2010 By all accounts, Intertek Sustainability Solutions' event last week in NYC was the best Ethical Sourcing Forum yet!...in terms of attendance, in terms of content and speakers, (Walmart, Transparency Int'l, US Dept. of Labor, Gildan, Ford, Cadbury, Coke, NBC Universal, Fashion activist, Summer Rayne Oaks, Maquila Solidarity Network, WRAP, The Economist, JustMeans, Bloomberg, CSRwire, AIAG, Eileen Fisher, Hudson's Bay Co., among many others gave presentations). The Forum has emerged as a place where a diverse community of sustainability stakeholders can roll up their sleeves together. While various speakers noted that CSR was at a pivotal moment in its evolution, there was a sense of renewed commitment to collaboration and finding more holistic (systems-based) solutions to intractable environmental and social problems facing our planet its inhabitants. The power of companies - coupled with political will, a stalwart ethical posture and a clear-eyed sense of benefits to business over the long term -- emerged as the leverage needed to bring about the transformational change we need. It was gratifying to see the Ethical Sourcing Forum as anything but your "grandfather's conference"...The sense of purpose, community and commitment, driven by "actionable innovation," was palpable. We teased out some truly meaningful insights and processes for driving the sustainability agenda forward. Bravo to all who participated or attended the Forum!

Christopher Foss 13 October 2009 Yes indeed... It used to be that companies complained they couldn't be held accountable for any negative social and environmental impacts of their suppliers around the world...Given the tools that both suppliers and brands/retailers now have at their disposal this has all changed. A lot of progress on this front..and the Ethical Sourcing Forum planners are gearing up to feature a number of the most innovative developments!
