|
Description:
Beginning in 2008, Timberland has hosted quarterly calls with a diverse set of stakeholders to support the launch of our long-term corporate CSR strategy and our new online reporting strategy.
Our April 20, 2009 call featured a discussion about corporate climate strategies - including Timberland's progress towards our 2010 carbon neutral goal and the role offsets will play in meeting that goal.
Featured speakers:
- Jeff Swartz, CEO of Timberland
- Mindy Lubber, President of Ceres
The call had a robust discussion that you can listen to on our new podcast (to be uploaded here within the week). In the mean time, we invite you to join the conversation after the event- your online feedback is greatly appreciated.

I agree that folks bandwidth for addressing large issues like climate is limited given the state of the economy. I think the key is reframing the issue to illustrate how the green economy can help pull us out of our poor economy. Timberland has seen financial savings from its investments in energy efficiency and renewables. There is a strong business case for tackling climate change. Citizens are realizing this as they look to energy efficient technologies and fuel efficient vehicles to reduce energy costs. A great resource for informnig and engaging others is http://www.stopglobalwarming.org

Tackling climate change in a down economy presents many challenges. I am interested in learning how we can gather more momentum from citizens and businesses despite the "times". Also would like to have better information to present to those who do not believe climate change is a real issue.
