    Since 1981, ACHIEVEability has been working to end poverty by helping single parent, low-income families, many formerly homeless, to achieve self-sufficiency. We believe that housing is a necessary first step to ending poverty, and we develop our own program housing to help stabilize families. But we know that in order to truly achieve permanent self-sufficiency and financial freedom, education is the key. Everything we do at ACHIEVEability is geared to helping our clients succeed and reach the goals they set for themselves and their families through our Family Self-Sufficiency Program.

    Position: Vice President of Self-Sufficiency

    The Vice President of Self-Sufficiency is responsible for the effective, efficient and successful functioning of the ACHIEVEability Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSSP). The VP of Self-Sufficiency is responsible for all operational facets of the FSSP and plays a vital role in agency leadership. This involves planning, oversight, management, coordination, integration, evaluation, reporting, resource development, financial management and promotion for all aspects of the program so as to help as many families as possible reach self-sufficiency in a cost effective manner.

    The Vice President of Self-Sufficiency will lead the achievement of established policies and procedures (P&P) and be the primary creator of those P&P’s that need to be created. Additionally, the VP of Self-Sufficiency will ensure the achievement of the goal that 35% of all families leaving each year from the Family Self-Sufficiency Program leaves self-sufficient (as measured by the ACHIEVEability Self-Sufficiency Continuum).

    The Family Self-Sufficiency Program consists of the following elements:

    • Intake
    • Client assessments
    • Case management
    • Client recognition and incentives
    • Life skills programs
    • Family enrichment programs
    • Education and tutoring programs
    • Employment and career programs
    • Counseling programs
    • Children’s programs
    • Youth programs
    • Technology programs
    • ACHIEVEability Tenants Association
    • Other FSSP programs and services

    The ideal candidate will have proven ability to conceptualize, create, and implement an innovative service concept, as well as be able to inspire, lead, and train a team in embracing new approaches and methods. Must be a superb verbal and written communicator, know how to command attention and build excitement in others, and garner buy-in from all levels of staff. Must be energetic and able to create business opportunities as well as lead in a start-up environment. Additionally, the ideal candidate has a strong disposition toward and/or track record of positive community relations.

    Minimum Qualifications:-

    • Graduate or professional degree
    • At least 5 years of experience in a position of significant responsibility
    • At least 5 years of supervisory experience
    • Skills and experience in any or a combination of the following areas: education and training, human services, customer service, project and program management, financial management, public relations and resource or business development
    • Commitment to the mission of ACHIEVEability

    • Ability to motivate and inspire both staff and clients
    • Ability to grasp the big picture while also able to focus on details
