Position Overview:-
The Senior Major Gifts Associate supports the donor cultivation and stewardship efforts of the Major Gifts Unit by planning and executing a range of small scale events in select regions across the country (up to a total of 12 events per year), as well as AIUSA’s annual Leadership Council meeting. Events may include house parties as well as donor receptions associated with high profile speaking engagements or campaign events. Work closely with other departments including Campaigns and Research and Policy to identify opportunities for donor cultivation around program and membership events as appropriate. Recruit, train and supervise Unit interns. Manage a select portfolio of $5,000 donors and prospects. Provide administrative support for Unit mailings and other activities as required.
Cultivation Events:
Develop and ensure adherence to a strategic annual events calendar that supports the donor cultivation and stewardship goals of the Major Gifts Unit. Ensure integration of events schedule with broader donor communications calendar.
Working with regionally based Major Gift Officers, plan and execute all aspects of donor cultivation events, including budgeting, securing venues, speakers, and supporting materials as well as overseeing the design, printing and distribution of invitations and coordinating catering. Coordinate participation of Communications and Entertainment Relations Units as appropriate. Identify opportunities for donor cultivation at select events coordinated by other AIUSA departments including film screenings, lectures, expert briefings, receptions for released prisoners etc.
Annual Leadership Council Meeting:
Spearhead planning and execution of annual meeting of AIUSA’s leadership level donors, including budgeting, program development, supporting materials, invitations, catering etc. Coordinate with other AIUSA staff as appropriate.
AIUSA’s Annual General Meeting:
Work with Major Gift Officers and Researcher to identify and invite prospective major donors in the area to attend the Leadership Council meeting. Coordinate event evaluation and follow-up.
Portfolio Management/Donor Relations:
Cultivate and solicit a portfolio of approximately fifty $5,000 donors and prospects, primarily through phone, e-mail, and mail contact. Interface with major donors and their representatives as required at special events and through phone inquiries
Administrative Support:
Provide additional support to the Major Gifts Associate for Operations as required. This may include but is not limited to assistance with data management, gift processing and mass mailings. Serve as liaison with outside vendors including caterers and printers. Process invoices related to events.
QUALIFICATIONS:-
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred. Must be a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills. Must have superior organization skills and an eye for detail. Previous project and event management experience required, experience in a professional Development department preferred.
