Position Description:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: (In addition to the following, performs other related duties as required.)
The Development Specialist’s major responsibility is to assist the management and growth of the individual donor base of the organization by helping identify and cultivate potential donors, manage the organization’s database including gift processing and acknowledgement; work with staff and others to increase the visibility of the organization through various types of media.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Manages and grows portfolio of donors at $500 or lower.
- Manages database and handles logistics for direct mail, phone banking, electronic solicitations, communications, and other activities.
- Enters gifts into database and prepares weekly report.
- Oversees gift-processing procedure, acknowledgements including preparation and personalization of thank you letters, and researches individuals, corporations and foundations.
- Maintains appropriate files for major gift donors and prospects.
- Prepares materials for donor/prospect meetings.
- Prepares fundraising reports/materials for board and/or organization meetings.
- Serves as detail-oriented, hands-on assistant for premiere, cultivation and stewardship events.
- Assists Resource Development staff on special projects as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate for this position must have an undergraduate degree or equivalent development experience, specifically working with an annual giving program, strong computer skills, excellent written and oral communications, ability to manage multiple projects, and be comfortable working as a team member. Knowledge of Exceed, Raiser’s Edge, or other relational databases is a plus.
