    About Education Pioneers

Education Pioneers, a national non-profit organization, recruits talent from business, law, education, public policy and other

disciplines to work in the field of education through our selective graduate school Fellowship and Alumni Programs. Education Pioneers grooms a new generation of leaders to address our nation’s most critical urban education issues. Education Pioneers’ work results in a pipeline of highly skilled, talented people working in the field of education and increases capacity and results in its Partner schools, districts and education organizations. Education Pioneers supports Alumni as they launch and maintain successful, rewarding careers in the field of education through career counseling, a job board, professional development opportunities, and access to its extensive network of organizations and education professionals.

    About the Fellowship Program

The Education Pioneers Fellowship Program is a full-time, ten-week summer program during which talented graduate students (“Fellows”) work in schools, districts, non-profits and other education-focused organizations (“Partners”). Fellows leverage their skills and knowledge to complete a mission-critical consulting project. In addition to their full-time consulting work, Fellows convene in regional cohorts for signature program events including: five full-day workshops on key education reform topics,   two full-day retreats, an end of summer retrospective event and professional networking opportunities designed to expand Fellows’ knowledge and professional networks.

    Work Experience

Fellows serve as a project consultant for a minimum of ten weeks under the guidance of an experienced leader at a Partner organization.  This mission-critical consulting project provides Fellows with a challenging and fulfilling work experience based on their skills, backgrounds and interests.

    Fellowship Events

Fellows develop as education leaders through program workshops and while connecting with the Education Pioneers community of Partners and Alumni. Five full-day workshops, a program requirement, feature case discussions on complex education issues that inspire deep discussion, thinking, and reflection. Workshops explore key and successful reform initiatives in urban education, helping to drive Fellows to effect positive change in education.

Fellows begin the Fellowship Program at Foundations, a kick-off and orientation retreat, and end the program with Showcase, an evening event highlighting the impact of their work,  and Capstone, where they reflect as a cohort on their Fellowship experiences.

    Career Support

Education Pioneers supports Fellows and Alumni as they launch successful, rewarding careers in the field of education. National and site-based staff provide ongoing coaching, support, and networking opportunities as well as access to the broader Education Pioneers community of Alumni and Partners. In addition, Education Pioneers provides tools including resume assistance, a job board, career trajectory information and guidance on specific career paths. Education Pioneers Alumni can attend career workshops and networking events and benefit from individual career coaching sessions. In 2009 the Alumni community grew to over 600 members across the country.
