The Marshall Legacy Institute is seeking a self-starting, dedicated, detail-oriented Development Manager to oversee and manage all development activities in support of MLI’s mission, strategy, and objectives.

    ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:-

The Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI) is a Virginia-based, international non-profit humanitarian organization founded to extend the legacy of General George C. Marshall by helping war-ravaged countries help themselves in building indigenous capacity to eliminate the humanitarian dangers and destabilizing effects of landmines and other explosive remnants of war.

The Institute forges public-private partnerships to provide resources and training to severely contaminated countries. MLI’s three major programs are the K9 Demining Corps (K9DC) Campaign, the Children Against Mines Program (CHAMPS) and the Survivors’ Assistance Program.

The K9DC Campaign raises private funding for highly-trained mine detection dogs to “sniff out” landmines, save lives and return land to productive use. MLI has given 130 lifesaving dogs to the neediest of countries, including Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Eritrea, Iraq, Lebanon, Nicaragua, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

MLI’s CHildren Against Mines Program (CHAMPS) fosters a sense of global citizenship among American youth and informs students about the plight of children in mine affected countries. CHAMPS provides students an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others by sponsoring a lifesaving dog and/or by assisting a child who has been hurt by landmines.

Through Survivors’ Assistance programs, MLI provides specialized training to medical rehabilitation teams. The Institute also supports a vocational training workshop that trains and employs landmine survivors and their family members in carpet weaving, tailoring and embroidery techniques.
