For more than 50 years, NCBA's CLUSA International Program has worked in developing countries to economically empower individuals and communities through the development of sustainable cooperative businesses and other community-based organizations focused on agriculture and agribusiness development, forestry and natural resource management, improving community health and promoting democracy and governance. The Assistant Program Manager (APM) works in the International Programs Unit and is responsible to provide support for home office administrative, logistic, financial, and programmatic support activities required for the successful implementation of CLUSA projects in the countries of assignment.
The main responsibilities of this position include maintaining up-to-date financial and fundamental programmatic knowledge of projects; reviewing and analyzing project narrative, technical and financial information; monitoring on-going and periodic submission of materials and compliance with established procedures; providing logistical and procurement support, coordinating other home office support activities; serving as contact point between field administrative staff and NCBA Washington staff; working with the Program Manager (PM) in responding to requests from projects or donors, and assisting in formulating responses or recommending responses based on specific knowledge and experience with the project and research of precedent and/or regulations and procedures.
The APM may represent assigned projects within NCBA and with the general public as directed by the PM. The APM will coordinate closely with the PM to ensure that the field-based Project Director (PD) and HQ-based Regional Director (RD) receive all necessary support for project implementation and that all contractual and financial matters are handled in an efficient and timely manner.
The Program Manager supervises the APM and provides day-to-day guidance and coordination for assigned projects.
Qualifications:-
The Assistant Program Manager will be a motivated individual with demonstrated initiative, creativity, and problem solving abilities.
Additional requirements include:-
- College Degree
- 2+ years experience working in a development project in the developing world (East or Southern Africa preferred)
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook)
